Bitterwell Sunny Delight of Hareswith (Chester)

Chester, or Bitterwell Sunny Delight of Hareswith, was with us from 1993 and enjoyed the life of a pet before anything else. We did not use him for stud as his hips were not too good.

But he did so enjoy life!

Mind you he was good in the show ring - securing a number of points towards his Junior Warrant. In the Northern Golden Retriever Assn. he won Minor Puppy & Puppy then went on to be awarded ‘Best Puppy in Show’.

As a young dog in England, he lived for picking up, liking nothing more than a good days shoot where he worked very hard. It did take him a few days to get over it though - but you try going without him!!

In his latter days Chester stayed around the garden - long walks were difficult for him - so his job as baby-sitter was very important

Here he is looking after Dickens and Rowan!

He watched over quite a few litters and was known as ‘Uncle Chester’ to all of them - as you can see from this photo of him and Heidi!!

At 14 ½ years old we had to say goodbye to David’s dear friend Chester. He had a long and happy life bringing joy to all who met him. His role as ‘Uncle Chester’ to the youngsters will be difficult to follow. Greatly missed.
